Why it is hard for women to lose weight.

The human body has the amazing ability to store excess calories as fat in ways that other apes cannot. There are two types of Fat:

  1. Brown Adipose- which helps to keep the body warm without shivering or requiring muscle contraction.
  2. White Adipose- Act as Insulators for protection from the external environment and the most important for energy storage (useful adaption as long as it is kept under control).

Males and females store fat differently.

Males have a lower body fat percentage as compared to female

This is simply because females are more important than males.

The main reason for this is that she has to nurse a child. To nurse a child it takes almost 500 more calories on average per day.

This doesn’t seem like huge calories we can go to the supermarket and grab some food that’s it. But during the time of hunter-gatherer and ancient ancestors. Finding 500 calories is a difficult task. So, what nature has done has made it easier for a female to gain weight and more difficult for them to lose it because she needs that energy storage to help supply the young ones.

Fats deposition location for males and females are also different.

Male deposit their fats in the belly region. that’s why we saw males who have skinny arms skinny faces and a beer belly.

But in the female, they store their adipose/fats in their hips, thighs, and glutes.

Also, Females have softer skin due to a higher body fat ratio.

Nobody wants to have too much fat or not enough fat but we need to understand that it is still important to have it. In today’s society fat has been demonized to this point where people just don’t understand how important and amazing it really is.

So, Be proud of those extra pounds that you have they are good for you.
